Cyrano's Café & Wine Bar
Cyrano’s Café & Wine Bar began serving Chef Didier’s award-winning cuisine in 1999 – in fact, it’s the longest established restaurant along Chicago’s beautiful River Walk.
The restaurant was named after the celebrated Frenchman Cyrano de Bergerac, the legendary dramatist, poet and duelist from Bergerac, Durand’s birthplace, who symbolizes "La Grande Passion" with its love of good food, historic buildings and general je ne sais quoi.
At Cyrano’s Café & Wine Bar, you will enjoy Chef Didier’s classic Farm Fresh cuisine which is an affordable alternative to the formal and more expensive French dining experience. Cyrano’s Café & Wine Bar is open every day of the week starting at 11 am. On weekends you can savor Chef’s bountiful Brunches. And of course we feature a full compliment of beers, mixed cocktails and excellent wines from all around the world.
In 2010, Chef Didier opened his Quack, Quack Ice Cream Parlour featuring creative cones, banana spits, sundaes and more.
From time to time, Cyrano’s Café & Wine Bar offers live music, usually from Thursday thru Sunday for brunches and evening diners. And there is even a dance floor. So bring your dancing shoes, your appetite and get ready to party!
This is a place where good food is always on the table and love is always in the air.
Chef Didier was born in Bergerac, on the plains of the River Dordogne in Southwestern France. He is a graduate of the famed Lycee Hotelier cooking school in Bergerac and spent two years preparing award-winning French cuisine at the four-star Michel Guerard Restaurant in Eugenie-Les-Bains, France. He continued to won culinary fame from the French Riviera, the Pyrenees and the Alps to Luxembourg, Switzerland and the Caribbean.
He came to America in 1986 and ran the kitchen at Carlos’ Restaurant in Highland Park, Illinois. In 1996, he and his wife Jamie opened their first restaurant in Chicago’s trend-setting River North area. Today, Cyrano's Farm Kitchen serves classic Farm Fresh fare, simple, rustic food he learned to cook growing up on his grandfather's farm in Bergerac, France. The restaurant features Small Plates, French-style Crepes, Fromages, Patés and unusual Appetizers, Sweetbreads, Foie Gras specialities, Fresh Fish, Duck a l'Orange, Coffee-Rub Amish Chicken and more, as well as offering one of the finest wine cellars in the city.
“To me, food is a wonderful elixir, a magical way of bringing people together for fun and frivolity. Good food is a joyous celebration; it pleasures people and makes them happy. When I’m in my kitchen, I cook up happiness. And that has been my philosophy since the first day I picked up a spatula. Good Food Makes People Happy!”
